Congratulation for your first camera! You've save your salary or allowance. You cut down your eating and drinking until people think that you've come from 4th world country. You also manage to cut down your social life. Just one or two things that you've sacrifice so that you could buy your own camera. And right now, you just came home from camera shop, very happy and excited with your first new camera. Again, congratulation!

But then, what to do about it? How to make picture? You want to learn photography technique, yet there's so many things to learn. There's just so many jargon and expression that you don't understand. So many book to read.

For now, I want you to just calm down and take photography one tiny bit of information at a time. Right now, I wont talk a lot of photography jargon and expression. For now, my suggestion for you is just keep shooting, keep shooting and shoot some more. Just use your automatic mode in your camera. Your camera will have enough technology, so that even a baby could produce great image. Literally!

Photography is like riding a bike, or driving a car. Once you get the basic, everything will become automatic. But you need to get through the initial frustration, and disappointment. You need to get the basic first. You need to get used to the technique, jargon and expression, so that it becomes automatic.

I've been shooting with my slr camera from 1992s very casually as a hobby. Starting around 2000 i've been shooting for money, so that I could afford to keep learning photography. I've been teaching photography since 2004. And all that, didn't count my first instantmatic camera, that i got when I'm around 12 years old. Yet, right now I still felt that I haven't learnt it by heart.

So, don't worry. Just keep shooting, and learn from your mistakes. Don't delete your mishap photos. You'll learn more from your mishap, rather than your great pictures. Stop reading from my site. Go out and take some pictures. Shoot and shoot more. Shoot with your auto-mode. Bring your camera everywhere. Shoot anything. Just shoot and shoot some more.......

Welcome to Photography. Welcome to my site. Let's learn photography together.

Before we move to the next subject, first please read this. Thanks!
